our services
capacity building, training and mentoring
We help leaders and team members feel more confident to deliver new products, as well as digital and data transformation, responsibly.
We love working with existing teams and building new ones to create cultures of learning! As well as providing training, workshops and mentoring, we also ensure that the projects run effectively. When finished, we make sure our clients’ teams have the confidence and capability to thrive and continue learning.
Much of what we do is integrated into our work supporting good data governance and responsible innovation and how we operate when working as interim management. We work closely with internal teams and stakeholders, building digital capacity, mentoring, teaching and passing on key skills.
Separately, we can provide team training and one-to-one mentoring sessions for senior team leaders. Our stand-alone training and workshops include: innovating through user needs, data impact assessments, and introductions to data governance.
some ways we’ve helped clients

creating data champions
Working together with a large institution who were seeking to increase awareness and governance of personal data across their 40+ departments and teams, we developed a data champions programme. Data champions met on a six week cycle for updates on relevant data governance issues, to collaborate on shared problems and received tailored UK GDPR training.

skills assessment and training
We worked with a UK energy provider looking to increase the number of datasets they published openly who were looking to implement a new data governance and triage process against the backdrop of many other organisation priorities. Working with the e-learning team we designed a skills matrix to identify which parts of the organisation needed what levels of data awareness or skills and developed a workshop for those immediately impacted by the new data governance processes.

unblocking innovation development
A non-profit client we were working with was struggling to engage it’s industry stakeholders in the development of a new service that involved changes in how data would be collected, processed and used. We supported our client through a series of interventions that included a shift in how information was presented in stakeholder workshops, drafting role description for a CTO and mentoring the product owner and other key members of staff.
other ways we integrate knowledge sharing and confidence building
show & tells AND agile delivery
Show & Tells are demonstrations of work in progress, intentionally unpolished and informal, with an emphasis on kindness and curiosity, and having plenty of time for questions and discussion. As such, they are key in enabling cross-team understanding and developing communities of practice.
Once embedded, they foster shared experience, learning and communication, as well as being a safe space for honing presentation skills.
Along with other Agile techniques such as Retrospectives, we apply Show & Tells beyond technical development to help teams better understand the problems they are solving, and to iterate and improve more quickly.
business-level hackathons
“A hackathon is any event of any duration where people come together to solve problems.” – Joshua Tauberer.
Business-level hackathons aren’t just for technology teams – it’s actually better if they include non-techies too. They can be incredibly useful for developing cross-team understanding of a problem, clarifying user needs, and teaching deeply technical people how to convey the value of their ideas without jargon.
But… don’t expect to completely solve any particular problem by the end of a hackathon; real-life problems are hard! Think of hackathons as a waypoint on a longer innovation journey that helps teams focus on collaboration and learning.
