data strategy & governance

helping you manage your data and AI responsibly with confidence, creating trust, meeting user needs and supporting compliance.

Sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin or there seem more unknowns than knowns. In a new relationship it’s also hard to know who needs to know what and why. This is all normal.

To get started we offer some fixed-cost services to help you find out where you’re at on your data strategy and governance journey without further commitment. Our broader range of services, offering more in-depth help is available as and when you need it.

off the shelf

These tried and tested, fixed price services are suitable for small businesses, start-ups or non-profits with up to 20 staff. And if you’re a start-up or thinking of a new product/service, the data governance workshop for new ideas is aimed to get you going, de-risk at an early stage, but without a big price tag.

If you’re a bit (or a lot) bigger and like what you see, get in touch or book a chat.

personal data governance assessment (half day)

This half-day assessment is designed to quickly review how well your handling of personal data complies with UK and EU GDPR, taking into account your organisation’s unique purpose and goals.

The resulting output can be used to create a prioritised action plan, where follow-up is required.

Note: This service requires at least one member of your team who knows your operations and systems the best, to work with us for about 60-90 minutes as part of the session.

data governance workshop for new ideas (HALF DAY)

Suitable for: very early stage start-ups and new product/service ideas.

With our proven half-day workshop format, we aim to take you through key data governance questions and the formal compliance requirements of a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA). The workshop helps you understand where the risks (and potential mitigations) for a new product or service may lie.

It aims to help you shape your idea, create trust with your customers from the start and avoid costly technical, compliance and governance risks that are hard to deal with later.

ai services risk assessment (NEW!)

We are developing an assessment of where and how AI is used within an organisation, to provide clear guidance on benefits and risks, to clarify what data is being shared with whom, and to support choice of AI tools and services.

Let us know if you are interested – and specifically which aspects of AI you’re finding challenging.

how we helped the V&A

Across 2018 we worked with the V&A on data protection and privacy regulation compliance, working closely with key staff and the V&A’s nearly 50 departments and teams.

To understand the V&A’s public task, we examined the museum’s purpose, laid out in the 1983 National Heritage Act, and its mission: “to enrich people’s lives by promoting research, knowledge and enjoyment of the designed world to the widest possible audience”.

Our work included fully assessing how personal data was processed and protected across the organisation, putting in place a robust process for implementing changes, updating procedures, and conducting tailored training.
