who we’ve helped to innovate responsibly
We’ve partnered with start-ups, non-profits and large global brands, working in partnership with them in roles that include data governance, R&D, interim management or training. Whilst the problems to be solved may be different, to innovate responsibly we nearly always start by assessing your data, where you are and where you would like to be.

Creative Diversity Network
CDN exists to enable the UK Broadcasting industry to increase diversity and inspire inclusion. We have worked closely with the team, most recently in the role of interim CTO and compliance for building Diamond 2. Diamond is a single online system used by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Paramount, UKTV and Sky to obtain consistent diversity data on programmes they commission.

Icebreaker One
Icebreaker One’s mission is to make data work harder to deliver net zero. They enable organisations to connect and share trusted data. Connecting assurable data across the markets helps decision makers trust their net zero investments. Launched in 2020, we have been involved from the beginning, helping build this start-up from the ground up with the functions of CTO, director of strategy & research, as well as build the team and other operational roles.
This work included working across the energy, water, transport, insurance and finance industries. With partners and clients that included Arup, SSEN, Northumbrian Water, Lloyds Register, and the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles.

FAMILY MENTAL WEALTH
Family Mental Wealth’s goal is to help families build their mental health and wellbeing, reducing the need for clinical interventions. They sought our help when working on the concept for a new app for families as they wished to ensure that compliance, data protection and privacy were built in from the start, and to make sure risks were identified and mitigated prior to any technical build.
We worked closely with the founders and CTO to understand the relevant issues, identify possible solutions, and adapt their plans and technical requirements accordingly. This included participating in a workshop with clinicians, researchers and families, as well as delivering tailored training and a running a Data Protection Impact Assessment.

Victoria & albert museum
Across 2018 we worked with the Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) on data protection and privacy regulation compliance, working closely with key staff and the V&A’s nearly 50 departments and teams.
To understand the V&A’s public task, we examined the museum’s purpose, laid out in the 1983 National Heritage Act, and its mission: “to enrich people’s lives by promoting research, knowledge and enjoyment of the designed world to the widest possible audience”.
Our work included fully assessing how personal data was processed and protected across the organisation, putting in place a robust process for implementing changes, updating procedures, and conducting tailored training.
“Patou engaged with Corrick Wales regarding matters of GDPR compliance as well as other points involving data privacy and cybersecurity. We greatly appreciated their ample knowledge and experience, helping us to understand from both the customer and business perspectives providing clarity on GDPR and improving our compliance, reviewing cookie and privacy policies (also taking into account CNIL requirements), as well as assessing and training third-party services and suppliers on GDPR and other data privacy topics. Corrick Wales are extraordinarily helpful, polite and thorough.“
